Something about the cover story images in today’s Guardian looked vaguely familiar…it’s 1997 all over again - cross processed, colour saturated images, the dying days of the britpop era and our small part in this musical footnote. For the Guardian article the technique is utilised to a far more devastating effect, see the full gallery here

Well, i finally completed the monster LEL 1400km ride in a less than impressive 118 hours. All went well for the fist 500km or so, but a combination of hills, rain, cold and fatigue took its toll. Got to Edinburgh in 44 hours but the return leg was a battle of epic proportions, only finishing with 20 minutes to spare. You can follow the full horror as it unfolded, click on the picture below

Roger Hiorns: SEIZURE.
151 - 189 Harper Rd, London SE1.
75,000 litres of copper sulphate solution were pumped into the council flat to create a strangely beautiful and somewhat menacing crystalline growth on the walls, floor, ceiling and bath of this abandoned dwelling.

After six months of hard training i guess i’m about as ready as i’ll ever be. I still can’t answer why i’m doing this but i feel excited about the challenge ahead. I can’t ride a bike like Wiggo but like him i will be tweeting over the course of my adventure so if any of you are in the least bit interested you can follow my progress via my twitter page; http://twitter.com/petekelsey

If you love cycling as we do, the chance to design our own team kit is too much of an opportunity not to be missed. We’re hoping to put these into production in time for Pete’s attempt on the LEL 1400 in late July. London to Edinburgh and back, non-stop, in under the (what seems unlikely) time of 80 hours. Ouch!

Maybe it’s the weather but browsing through this clever little site this posting in particular seems to sum up the feeling in the studio and out there generally. Thanks to itsnicethat.com for the steer.

I recently read a piece about the artist Bob and Roberta Smith which, by the wonders of google, led me to the Polite site. If i ever sent greetings cards this is what i would want to say. Genius.

As a new exhibition at the Royal Academy shows, Utagawa Kuniyoshi’s woodblock ukiyo-e prints of warriors and vengeful demons made him a star of the “floating world” of Edo-era Japan.
