Something about the cover story images in today’s Guardian looked vaguely familiar…it’s 1997 all over again - cross processed, colour saturated images, the dying days of the britpop era and our small part in this musical footnote. Browsing today’s paper I came across an article about British photographer Paul Graham. His work sits somewhere between Martin Parr and William Egglestone, documenting fragments of everyday life. Last year I went to southern Sweden for a photoshoot and in the course of the location research i discovered the photoblog ‘Ystad Daily Photo’ by the photographer and journalist Fredrik Ekbland. These are beautiful images of this stunning corner of Europe, but even more impressive are his occasional commentaries in perfectly nuanced English.
