BT
Brief

To design a graphic representation of BT's vision of the future as predicted by their futurology department, covering all aspects of social, technological and scientific development.

Solution

We developed a linear timeline consisting of individual waveforms for each category, plus individual graphics to highlight certain predictions. The use of a wide spectrum colour palette gives the final waveform a 3D aspect that brings the concept to life. Initially produced as A1 Posters, we were subsequently asked to develop this into an interactive microsite for the BT website.

Brasserie Blanc
Brief

To create a new branded identity for Brasserie Blanc, a small chain of French brasseries fronted by Michelin-starred chef and restauranteur, Raymond Blanc.

Solution

The immediate requirement was to design a logo style and menu format which elevated the concept beyond the accepted format for this type of restaurant. We created a brand identity which references French modernism, softened by informal black and white imagery and the classic brasserie colour palette of burgundy and mustard. The group is now rapidly expanding and PKD are retained on an ongoing basis for all brand-related design and development.

Gersemi
Brief

To create the brand guidelines, graphic design and art direction for a new Swedish equestrian fashion label.

Solution

We were asked to work with an existing logotype and build this into a consistent set of brand values which could then be used as a basis for all future graphic requirements. These values can be represented by three key words- fashion, quality and style; and all of our work strives to meet these criteria. Having developed the brand guidelines we delivered all 'on-garment' merchandise, designed the website and managed the implementation of a fully integrated Content Management System in time to launch the first Spring '09 collection.

Jom Makan
Brief

To rebrand and create interior print graphics for Malaysian restaurant Jom Makan in central London

Solution

The development of this new Malaysian restaurant venture, co-funded by the national government, is regarded as an opportunity to develop a wider understanding of the country, it's people and cuisine. One of our first tasks was to create a unique personality by concentrating on specific examples of Malaysian culture and deliver these in the format of a series of placemats for guests to read whilst ordering. A rebranding is currently underway but we've also found time to develop a series of eye-catching posters and leaflets promoting their offers and menus.

We were commissioned to create a street art environment to house the competition, data capture mechanic and media assets. We developed a set of visuals based on the distinctive shape of the soul, the competition itself involved the completion of a puzzle made up of fragments of the finished form. Attention to detail included a 'Soul Vison' vintage TV set to play the installation video, an aerosol can for the cursor and a series of wall stickers utilised as links to the parent site. The whole site was delivered as a self-contained flash movie with the data collected direct into an archive for Kia to analyse.

Loch Fyne Restaurants
Brief

To create a new master brand to accommodate the various Loch Fyne ventures.

Solution

In 2006 we undertook a wholesale rebranding of the Loch Fyne group of companies; including Loch Fyne Oysters, Loch Fyne Restaurants. The new brand allows for creation of new divisions as this highly regarded business expands. The solution was to create an elegant, simple, unified format but which allowed each company the scope to adapt this format for their own specifc identity. The revised identity was applied acrosss a range of packaged goods including the world famous Loch Fyne Smoked Salmon, plus a range of ready meals, soups and pates.

Maman Blanc
Brief

To create the identity and interior for a Brasserie Blanc French deli. Develop a sample range of packaged goods.

Solution

Following our work for the Brasserie Blanc group, we were asked to develop a distinct identity for a range of produce to be sold through a dedicated retail space within the new Brasserie Blanc in Milton Keynes. The solution was found in naming the range as an ‘homage’ to Raymonds greatest inspiration, his mother. PKD consulted on the interior design and fit-out, custom installations included the bespoke flooring, shelving and light fittings of a classic french deli / traiteur. All packaging was kept discrete and simple, with use of a Maman Blanc accreditation plaque.

McGoff & Byrne
Brief

To refresh existing identity, create a new corporate website and manage all brand communication

Solution

McGoff and Byrne are a family-owned construction business based in the South Manchester. They are well established in their field with a strong reputation for quality and performance. PKD were approved to refresh their identity and produce a coherent set of brand guidelines for their third party suppliers. A light touch was required as the existing identity was felt to be synonomous with the brand and the positive values associated with it. We concentrated on rationalising all the various existing versions into a one set of graphic idents to cover all eventualities, with attendant rules for usage.

Brief

To build an animated ' Virtual City' to demonstrate Motorola's City Management system.

Solution

Credo Communications provided us with the static imagery of a ‘virtual city’. Net-Tex
Brief

To design a range of packaged goods for equestrian market.

Solution

We created this packaging series for equestrian specialists Net-Tec Industries. The range was endorsed by British Olympic dressage rider Carl Hester and the idea behind the ‘Carl Hester Performance’ range was to deliver the concept of 21st century technology for equine care. We employed Hi-gloss silver labels with clean, dynamic text and colour coding across the entire range. To support the range we produced an In-store DVD, a brand microsite and all advertising. The range was an immediate hit with retailers and consumers alike, rapidly establishing itself as the premium brand in its market sector.

The design of a series of TV-advertised CD releases

Solution

Our relationship with Sony BMG dates back to 2000 when were were approached to create the 'Cigarettes and Alcohol' Cd compilation. We chose an iconic 70's football image and similarly retro inspired typography for a cover which had instant appeal and proved to be one of the biggest selling compilations of it's type that year. We produced 2 more versions in the series, plus a DVD, culminating in the 2008 'best-of' edition. We've produced numerous other successful compilation CD's for Sony in the past few years, including 'Alternative Eighties' and the 'Music to Watch Girls By' Series.

John Squire
Brief

A website and online gallery for the artist John Squire

Solution

Our most recent work (see archive section for previous work) for John Squire involved the creation of a website dedicated to his output as an artist. It was important the website allowed the work, abstract expressionist paintings and mixed media work, to take precedence on the page. We utlised a sparse layout together with a neutral palette and sparse photography to keep the focus firmly on the work itself, with a comprehensive exhibitions archive for each of the show collections.
