I’m reading John McGahern’s ‘That They May Face the Rising Sun’, a beautiful , lyrical novel set in the rural west of Ireland. I’ve been travelling to Ireland for over forty years and this book captures perfectly the unique rhythm of speech and of the characters you encounter.
