In June 2022 I took on the inaugural Transalp 1200, a bike ride through northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The 1250km event started and finished in Verona and took in the South Tirol, the Sillian and Julian Alps along the way.

Today I went for a long ride in the freezing weather, good to work off some festive excess but too cold to stop for any photos in the bleak midwinter. Back to Sicily for the last time in this series and a visit to the backstreets of Syracuse. Fortuitous then to capture this shot without cars or people and a strategically placed Vespa in the background.
