In June 2022 I took on the inaugural Transalp 1200, a bike ride through northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The 1250km event started and finished in Verona and took in the South Tirol, the Sillian and Julian Alps along the way.

E. Pelicci’s is one of the last of a dying breed, an original Italian Café pretty much untouched since the fifties. The tiny interior boasts Art Deco panelling and stained glass panels, and the location on Bethnal Green Road ensures a lively mix of locals and hipsters. I grabbed a quick snap of the counter shelving on my way out.
