The old bridge is shut these days for essential repairs but still accessible for pedestrians and cyclists. Despite the wear and tear it’s still a handsome sight in the late evening sunshine.
In June 2022 I took on the inaugural Transalp 1200, a bike ride through northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The 1250km event started and finished in Verona and took in the South Tirol, the Sillian and Julian Alps along the way.
