In June 2022 I took on the inaugural Transalp 1200, a bike ride through northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The 1250km event started and finished in Verona and took in the South Tirol, the Sillian and Julian Alps along the way.

I’m reading ‘The General in his Labyrinth’, a Garcia Marquez novel that charts the last months of Simon Bolivar’s life. Bolivar liberated much of South America and founded the republic of Colombia. This photo is taken close to Bolivar Square in Bogotá, a moody, shuttered up street market.
