Everyday

In June 2022 I took on the inaugural Transalp 1200, a bike ride through northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The 1250km event started and finished in Verona and took in the South Tirol, the Sillian and Julian Alps along the way.

Om, my last post about the Giro D’Italia, particularly after today when the British Challenge fell apart in spectacular fashion. Today the race finished atop Mount Etna, reminding me of my visit there in May 2017 - my first to both Sicily and the iconic mountain. I’ve been back a few times now, I love the place but Etna has a bleak, eerie sort of feel devoid of vegetation or any notable landmarks - this shot capture the black lava fields and a neat contrast with the peach-coloured restaurant apparently growing out of the rocks.
