In June 2022 I took on the inaugural Transalp 1200, a bike ride through northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The 1250km event started and finished in Verona and took in the South Tirol, the Sillian and Julian Alps along the way.

After the sinuous, sexy curves of yesterday, looking back south across the river to an expanding neighbourhood emerging on the site of new Covent Garden. The acres of green glass and sandstone look pretty dated already, and now crowded by a proliferation of new buildings all around. Who lives in a house like this?
